Beginners' Courses

The club runs introductory archery courses twice a year, typically in spring and autumn. The courses consist of 6 sessions. 4 x Wednesday evenings indoor at Kenley Memorial Hall 2 x Sunday mornings at the clubs’ ground at Warlingham Park School, Chelsham.

The club has a number of members who have been trained as coaches by archery’s’ national governing body. The course content is predominantly hands-on, with all necessary equipment being provided. The cost for the course is £45 per person. A responsible adult must accompany children under 18.

Week 1
  • Welcome and introductions

  • Safety

  • Basic equipment

  • Warm up exercises

  • Basis shooting technique

  • Talk on different forms of Archery

Week 2
  • Safety reminder

  • Shooting under tuition

  • Talk on Aiming

Week 3
  • Safety reminder

  • Introduction of the sight

  • Shooting under tuition

  • Talk on Archery etiquette, Scoring , Rounds and Awards

Week 4
  • Review of technique

  • Shooting under tuition

  • Talk on Arrows with DVD

Week 5
  • Guided Instruction

  • Course Competition

  • Talk on Bow types and Equipment selection

  • Prize Giving

Week 6
  • Review of technique

  • Guided observation

  • Open Forum

  • Presentation of Certificates of Competence
